I end up falling to the Diderot feeling every time I buy art supplies. I always think, "I could use this for a piece!", only to have that sit on my shelf for many years.
I have several tubes of paint, packets of clay and colour pencils just sitting there unused, all because I bought them when I didn't need it.
Thank you, Ishan! I’m guilty of that as well. I buy things if I see a good deal, thinking I will eventually use them and half the time they go bad before I get the chance.
Don't know what you used to take that beautiful photo of your daughter, but clearly you don't need a new camera. But hearing about the Diderot effect is useful, the way it's always useful to be made aware of unconscious tendencies that can be approached with more intentionality once you know they're at play. It seems this same psychology could be part of perfectionism. Like if someone praises you or gives you acknowledgment for being good at something you then feel the need to expand your territory around that talent, or skill, or trait to match the newly acquired ownership of a facet of identity. Ok, maybe that's a stretch, but as a perfectionist myself, that's what came to mind.
That was actually taken on my phone. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how good of a job the cameras on our phones can do. Especially if you understand the settings and a bit of editing.
And I can see the connection to perfectionism. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch. 😊
Oh, Denis.
"There was a vacant corner next to my window. This corner asked for a writing desk, which it obtained."
You didn't ask for a new lens or memory cards, Randy!! The camera did!! Which it did not obtain.
Yay for #60!! Love the photo of your little photographer. Hope we get to see some of her work 🙂
Good point, Sandra. It was the camera’s fault. 😬 I may have to showcase some of her work in the future. It’s probably better than mine, lol.

Awesome pic of your daughter Randy!

Wow this article called me out! Now I will have this in mind when shopping for something new in bundles. *minimizes window on film camera shopping*
Yeah, I’m a sucker for bundles too. The camera bundles lured me right in, lol.
